Welcome to the website of Lightning Fleet #50, a Dixie District fleet of the  International Lightning Class Association (ILCA). We are affiliated with the Potomac River Sailing Association (PRSA) and we race and cruise our one-design Lightning sailboats on the Potomac River out of the Washington Sailing Marina just south of Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington DC.

The 2010 Leukemia Cup and 75th Annual President's Cup Regatta is September 11/12. See the full announcement from the PRSA Chairman for the Regatta and information about fund raising deadlines and guidelines.

Sign up for PRSA Race Committee Assignments NOW!  Go here to sign up.  Pick a day when Lightnings have the duty, and fill in your name.  Each Fleet 50 member should plan on serving on RC on two different days this year.

Wednesday Night Sailing! Informal racing in the cove or out on the river every Wednesday evening, weather permitting.  Crew -- come on down, jump on a boat at the dock -- be ready to sail by 6 PM -- or even better, arrive at 5:30 PM to help skippers set up their boats.  Orientation and training for new skippers and crew every other Wednesday.  Contact Joe Warren for more information.

Poquoson Challenge  Saturday, August 21!  Sponsored by Fleet 518 and hosted by our own Jim Dillard, the 2nd annual Poquoson Challenge Regatta was held on the beautiful Poquoson River just south of the York River on Saturday, August 21. The races were followed by a crab and beer feast. Among those attending were Red Fehrle, Nabeel Alsalam, and Frank Gallagher

The Duck  Challenge Regatta was  heldSaturday and Sunday, August 21/22 sponsored by Havre de Grace YC and Lightning Fleet 192!  Results soon!
