Summary
:
George Rider sailing with Pedro Soares, former Junior World
Champion and Sidney Block, recent class addition out from the
Snipe Class won the event, with Cláudio Biekarck a close second
and Chilean team of Juan Reid in third, classifying Chile for
the Pan Am Games in Rio.
Using the Medal Race process for the final race, George needed
to maintain himself in front of the Chilean teams and not more
than one place behind Biekarck. He finished second and
guaranteed the win. Speaking to George he always says that to
beat Claudio Biekarck you must do everything perfectly. I guess
he did just that.
3
teams from Chile brought their boats by truck and provided
excellent competition.
2
teams from Argentina came also, and Carlos del Mare was pleased
to get to know the Guanabara Bay sailing venue and said
Argentina will be present at the South American Championships
and the Southern Circuit event to qualify their country.
It was a beautiful event and showed that Brazil is ready to
receive the representatives of all Pan-Am countries in Rio next
July.
