Blog from Lightning North American Championships:

Today is the first day I have seen sunlight at the Lightning NAs.
Weather here is atypical for this area and I have kicked myself a lot
the last four days for not packing anything other than board shorts and
light long sleeve shirts (under Dr. Steve’s prescription.) The
Championship racing has been the most challenging with breeze barely
peaking above 8-10mph and shifts averaging 30’. The breeze shut off
early today with sunlight finally hitting my skin…time for sunscreen.
Hopefully tomorrow we will have fair wind to end the series only one
race short. Aside from the racing, the people and local seafood are
great!!

I
was not so keen on VHF on board. Since they were allowed, we bought one
and now we are addicted. Jeff Borland our PRO has kept us very
informed…he has done so with amazing enthusiasm. He greets us every
morning with a superbly happy voice! Great RC work.

The Regatta Organizers have done a spectacular job.
The morning briefings on weather, wind, and current by Chris Larson and
Greg Fisher have helped everyone get ready for the day. The
afternoon debriefings offer 20 - 20 hindsight on the challenging
conditions.
The beer truck, with results posted, is THE gathering
spot.
