Phil Rowan Remembers Us.  Phil Rowan, a self-described vagabond sailor, sailed with Fleet 50 during fall season 2002.  He wrote a very nice article that we posted on our website.  It's worth re-reading.  Click here to check it out.

Hampton Frostbite Regatta, November 10Ron Buchanan and Joe B. moved fleet 409 to Hampton and got things going.   It was a great place to sail.  It only took 2.5 hours early Saturday morning to get there - a straight shot down 95 and 64.

Fall Sunday Series #8, November 2.   This was the last one!  We were worried there would be no wind, but we actually had a light and steady southerly.  The current started strong but eased off as the day progressed. John Butler, Roger Wright, & Hayden Smith sailed fast and consistently to win the day. Results.

Fall Sunday Series #7, October 26.   Thacher-Daniel-Hayden were fast on Lord Jim! They got a 2-1-1 to edge out Frank-Skip-Lolita on Resistance is Futile to win the day.  It was breezier than normal and many of the other competitors were dealing with their spinnaker demons. Results. Pictures.

Borderline Regatta, October 25 & 26.   The Carolina fleet always shows us what southern hospitality is all about.  This is a favorite for many in our fleet.  Here is the NOR

Frigit Digit Regatta, October 18 & 19.  Nabeel, Pat, Harry Keith, and Joe Anderson got beat up.  All 36 boats that came were fast.  We river sailors need to learn to adjust our rig tune, sail trim, and steering to bay conditions.  Results.  The NOR.   The website.

Fall Sunday Series #5, October 12.   What a great fall this has been.  Yet another gorgeous day for sailing.  Cool temperatures and northwest breezes from 10 to 18 knots.  Resistance is Futile got a 1-2-1 to win the day.  Beedobeat edged out Lord Jim.  Again, no protests!  Well, not exactly.  Frank ran a mock protest to hear Rick's case against Jeff.  Results.

Fall Sunday Series #4, October 5.   Fall sailing on the Potomac is great stuff!  Cool temperatures and north or northwest breezes from 5 to 15 knots.  Resistance is Futile got a 1-2-3-3 to edge out Gray Ghost for the day.  Finally, no protests!  Aside from hitting marks, draping spinnakers, and near capsizes everyone sailed cleanly.  We ran RC:  Jeff Storck, Bob Wilbur,  Rob Tompkins.  They got off 4 nice races with nice long legs.  Results.

Fall Sunday Series #3, September 28.   Another perfect day!   Grey Ghost got a 4, 1, 1 but for the last race was protested on a Rule 13 (While Tacking) incident and disqualified .  That gave Wolf and Resistance is Futile 8 points each with a 5, 2, 1 and a  1, 4, 3.  Wolf wins the tiebreaker with the bullet in the last race.   Cumulative results for Sept 14 & 28.

Hurricane Isabel hits the Washington Sailing Marina.  No boat was safe from the rising waters.  The water rose, the wind blew.  Before you head out to the marina, check out some pictures of the worst that was done and rest easy if your boat isn't on this page.  Click here.

Solomon's Invitational, September 19 & 20.   The Solomons fleet put on the Dixie Districts this year and this is their second big event.  PRSA has sent more boats than any other club for the past two years.  Lets continue that.  The invitation.   The website.

Sousan and Drew add a new soul to our world!   Born Sunday September 14 at 2:10 p.m. (5 minutes after arrival at the maternity center), Benton Sabri Hudson-Arafeh was 7 lbs and 14 oz.    Sousan commented that she wasn't sure about this "Labor" thing.  With all the scientists we have, there must be a better way.

Fall Sunday Series #1, September 14.   A perfect day that helps make you forget those drifters.   Grey Ghost got a 1, 1, 3.  Wolf got a 2, 5, 1.   Elsewhere frustration and protests abounded.   Hmm....  Red, Maryann, and Jennifer ran the RC boat with great help from Steve & Laura Kistler and Bill Carnell of the Hampton fleet.    Cumulative results for Sept 14 & 28

They came in tenth. Jeff and Cath  two-handed the races after their middle crew bowed out at the last minute. They came in 14th and had a blast.

Dixie District Championships, June 14 and 15 in the Solomons.   Nabeel, Russ, & Scott got 4th.  They tied Phil Grotheer with 17 points but Phil won the tiebreaker with a best 2nd place finish vs. Nabeel's best 3rd place.  They both were 1 point behind Jamie Brickell in 2nd.  Jo Ann Jones is this year's Champion.  She has lots of experience crewing for excellent sailors like Bill Healy, but this was one of her first helming experiences.  While she had great crew with Greg Fisher aboard, this was a great achievement for her.  By the way, Frank, Skip, and Lolita popped out of the crowd with a 6th.   The full results are here.

Spring Sunday Series #8, June 8.  The was the last one.  Nabeel beat Frank in the first race to take the lead in the overall Spring series.  But Frank came from behind on the last leg of the last race to beat Nabeel and take the Series.  Congratulations, Frank.   Here are the results.
