On behalf of our club, I would like to thank all the Lightning sailors for participating in a fun filled weekend. Saturday saw winds of 12 - 22 knots out of 240 -280 degrees, and Sunday had 5 - 15 knots with "regular" 30 degree shifts. Many families, young kids and a few senior sensations experienced the thrills and exhaustion of 4 races on Saturday!
Bill Fastigii, with crew Suzie and Heather won with 2 firsts, 3 seconds and a fourth. Tom Allen with son Karl and daughter Shelby were second, and Ed Adams with Neil and Nancy, came third. Peter Hall, with crew Chantal and Megan, were 4th and top Canadian. Larry MacDonald with daughters Joy and Maggie and Al Boucher with son A.J and Steve Waldie, fought hard for 6th and 7th place, each had a youngster under 10 years old on board. Incidently Larry has been top Canadian 13 times - Amazing!!!
Special mention goes to John Sauter, Mark Osterman and Peter McBride for local distinction in relearning old lessons that swimming/dumping is SLOW!
Thanks to J.F. Simard, PRO and volunteer team for running a perfect regatta, David Covo, our Judge and special thanks to the wind gods who blessed us with challenging, fabulous sailing conditions. -Peter Hall
