Executive Committee Action

The Executive Committee acting on behalf of the Governing Board per Lightning Class Constitution, Article XII, Section 1(b), temporarily amends the Document Governing all Sanctioned Lightning Class Championships Article VIII - Racing Conditions, Section 9 per the following position.
This amendment temporarily suspends Article VIII, Section 9 for the period of August 4, 2026 – August 15, 2026.
Reasoning:
The Document Governing conflicts with US Sailing Prescription, Appendix V. For the sake of clarity and to avoid any conflicting rules, Article VIII, Section 9, is being suspended for these events.
Clarification:
US Sailing Prescription, Appendix V will apply for the 2026 Women’s, Junior and Masters’ North American Championships and the 2026 North American Championship and is as stated:
