One change this year which will be an exciting addition... Friday afternoon, rather than a formal practice race or clinic, we’re going to host an optional and separately scored race which we’re calling the FUNky Oyster. This will be a single race started from the club docks, and around a series of fixed government marks in the harbor, the order of which will be chosen to present sailors with a more diverse set of sailing angles and currents, and not simply windward/leeward racing. Additionally, teams are encouraged, though not required, to switch-up the in-boat roles from how they will race on Saturday/Sunday, with a crew member for the weekend skippering on Friday. We hope this will be a memorable and importantly fun style of race without the pressure associated with a typical regatta series and with a prize for all participants.
Lastly, the club is working on a offering a storage solution for boats that are racing in the Wrightsville NAs, and wanting to leave their boats in the south and we hope to have more information on that when we have something worked out. If interested in this option please touch base with Craig Bennett just so he can get a preliminary boat count.
