Getting closer! The North American Championships are right around the corner and we want to make sure you have all the fine details...and if you have questions, send 'em our way! Lake Michigan is ready to welcome Lightning Sailors next month for two fantastic events. 
 
Have you visited the 2026 North American Championship Blog yet? There's 3 blogs up and another coming tonight. Get the full scoop on the Friendliest Clubs on Lake Michigan, Vakaros, the Harken HQ tour, and all the reasons you need to register (if you still need convincing). 
 
Be prepared to show your measurement certificates during measurement!

The 2026 NAs serves as the US Qualifier for the 2027 World Championship in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Look good, feel good, do good! Show up ready to race with NAs gear. Merchandise is available and the pre-order deadline is this Saturday, July 25th.
 
Polo shirts and white long sleeve tech shirts are available in both men's and women's sizing.

Vakaros Rental Information (for Sheboygan Only):
 A $35 late fee is applied for registrations made 7–14 days prior to the event...it kicks in July 27th! Within seven days, you are charged rush shipping + the late fee + the existing rental fee. Hard deadline to rent is seven days before registration - August 3. The blog, "Do You Know Where Your Vakaros Unit Is?" gives you the run down on renting:

and....is your Lightning Class membership current? Per the Class Rules, current class membership is required for all sailors. Current Membership lists can be found on the Class website. Not sure if you are? Here's how to check:
  1. Log in as a member.
  2. Under “The Class Tab,” select Fleet Finder Link
  3. Click on the map to find the Red Fleet Pin Point for your Fleet, click the pin point, and an information box will display with various Fleet links.
  4. Select the “District Members” link. This is a live link, populated as soon as someone joins or renews.
  5. Note: Members will only appear in the Fleet/District they selected in their member profile. Any questions or problems? Contact Laura Jeffers.
