Lightning Loyals, Help Wanted!
A short term, very exciting, and critically important task needs a few volunteers to help. As was announced at the North American’s, the Lightning Class Association in collaboration with the Finger Lakes Boating Museum (www.flbm.org) is working to establish the Lightning Class Hall-of-Fame. The purpose is to recognize the sailors and other contributors to the Lightning Class. This will include a physical and on-line presence including boats, the original construction mold from Skaneateles, artifacts, memorabilia, and records reflecting our history since 1939. The goal is to tell the story of the Class, the people, and the boats. While a more formal Class announcement of the Hall-of-Fame via Flash Blast is in process, our need for some volunteers for this task can’t wait.
Several workgroups are actively engaged in elements of this project and we are working to induct the first class at our North American’s next August. Todays request is for volunteers to develop the process and criteria for nomination and selection of inductees into the Hall of Fame.
It should be a ‘quick hitter’ of a task, as our current timeline is for this group to present their recommendations by the end of November. I would expect the effort includes two or three zoom sessions and some homework to research and draft the proposal along with some back and forth via email or text.
