The ILCA Boat Grant Program Announces 2011 Grantees
Caroline Patten is from Barnegat Light, New Jersey and began sailing in Opti's and 420's at BLYC. She quickly excelled into the higher ranks of youth sailing and competed at most of the larger youth sailing events. Currently, she is Co-Captain of the Hobart-William Smith Sailing team and will graduate this spring. Last year in the ILCA North American Championships she had a strong Qualifying Series, finishing 19th. She won the Swanson Trophy and finished 35th in the Blue Fleet. Her team includes Tyler Menninger, Michael Crann and alternate Arielle DeLisser. Team Profile Mentor: Jarrett Lynn
Will Tyner grew up sailing Lightnings in the Southeastern District. He has been campaigning his fathers 45-year-old boat for the past few years and has been quite successful on the Lightning circuit. He has won the Davis Youth Award twice for his finishes in the 2009 and 2010 Southern Circuit Regattas. Also at the 2010 North American's he was the top junior skipper and qualified for the Pan Am Trials. He recently obtained his captains license and is working as a sailing instructor on Charleston Harbor. His team includes Reese Wilkins and Conner Brady. Team Profile Mentor: Greg Fisher
