The Lightning Class has been a special place for my family and me for generations. I am afraid to count the number of Lightnings owned and sailed since the early days of my grandfather, Bernie Starck, and Jody’s parents, Jack and Jean Swanson. Let’s just say it is well over 30. Our children, Sabrina and Jamie, sailed in their first Junior NA’s this past summer and really enjoy everything the class has to offer.
As a member of the ILCA Executive Committee, I look forward to helping the class grow its membership base, focus on marketing strategies, and continue to promote and educate the general sailing population why it’s the best class in the world to spend your time on (and off) the water.
