As a result of service changes to "yahoo groups" we have been forced to relocate our platform for new and 14 years of historical discussions related to wooden and classic fiberglass Lightnings. All are welcome to participate or "lurk".
The discussion group is for all interested in Classic Lightning Class Sailboats. Members of this group own, are former owners, or are enthusiasts for the Lightning. A classic Lightning is one built of wood or one of the early fiberglass boats, typically built prior to the early 1980's.
In addition to supporting each other with discussions of maintenance, boat construction, rigging, tuning, racing, day sailing, boat camping and more. We hold an annual “Get Together” / Regatta. The date for 2020 is June 27-28, and will be held on Keuka Lake, near Hammondsport, New York in the beautiful Finger Lakes region.
You can sign yourself up by going to groups.io in your browser, register, and join the group classic-lightning. Any questions just drop me a note: astrove@hotmail.com

... the weekend of September 28-29 brought temperatures in the mid 70’s, breezes in the mid-teens, and 25 Lightning’s for 2 days of wonderful one design racing in Whitehall Bay off Annapolis. Lightning competitors from more than just the mid-Atlantic states noticed the scheduling change, and sailors from Greece and Italy showed up to give the event an international flair... Read Bill Cabrall's wonderful report on the event.
Check out the racing action via the above link - click on the image. Drone footage was captured and you can really see what the action was like.
