Eight Bells... Ralph Bilnoski
 
Ralph Bilnoski passed away May 17, 2021 after a short battle with lung cancer. Ralph owned Lightning #11118 for 20 years. He skippered in club races at Fleet #35 in Dallas, TX. His major mark was as a crew member. Ralph sailed for many years with former ILCA President, Richard Guinan. More recently he crewed for Clarke Newman.

The US Sailing One Design Committee is proud to present the first of a series of Starboard Portal presentations specifically for the One Design Sailing Community including Sailors, Classes and Fleets. This first edition will focus on the current landscape of One Design sailing in our country. The panelists will discuss their views on challenges and opportunities and provide thoughts and opinions on the future of One Design sailing so we can all work to grow together. This special presentation will be moderated by Craig Leweck, Editor and Publisher of Scuttlebutt Sailing News, and will feature panelists in leadership positions from around the One Design sailing world including:

  • Craig Leweck (Moderator) – Editor and Publisher, Scuttlebutt Sailing News
  • Laura Jeffers – Executive Secretary, International Lightning Class
  • Chris Howell – Director of multiple J/Boat classes, J/70, J/22, J/24 and more
  • Scott Williamson – Director, International Laser Class Association, North America
  • Zeke Horowitz – Sales Rep., North Sails and Pro Sailor

This regatta will serve as the US Junior qualifier for the 2022 Youth Worlds, Sheboygan, WI July 2022. Competitors can not turn 21 in the year of the event.

Getting To Know the NAs - All the Details YOU need to know!
 
This regatta serves as the US Qualifier for the 2022 World Championship to be held May 2022 in Wrightsville Beach, NC. 
  • Look forward to great racing thanks to our PRO Todd Fedyszn, who has been at the helm for the 2019 NA's and numerous Winter Championships in St. Pete, as well as the skilled EYC race committee lead by Joe Colling.

  •  Look forward to great company and entertainment with live music lined up for each of the dinners including a full band on Saturday!

  • Look forward to spending a week in Cleveland on the beautiful shores of Lake Erie. Unique local attractions, great restaurants and dramatic sunsets. Check out Edgewater Park, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Westside Market, Cleveland Museum of Art, and More!

2023 North American Championship - Call for Bids
 
Bids are now being accepted to host the 2023 North American Championships. 
 
We are looking for one host that can hold the Women's, Junior and Master's North American Championships during the first or second week in August for 1-2 days of measurement/practice race and 3 days of racing.
 
We are looking for another host (or the same) that can hold the North American Championship either back to back or within a week of the WJM's. The time frame for the NAC is 2 day(s) for measurement/practice race and then 3-5 days of racing depending on racing schedule.
 
If you are interested in putting in a bid, please contact VP North American Championships, Josh Goldman or the Class Office for more specifics on racing schedule and proposed dates.
 
Deadline for bids is December 1, 2021. Announcement expected by April 1, 2022.
