Eight Bells... Patricia Burridge

Patricia passed away on October 31 after suffering a stroke about 2 weeks ago. Pat would have turned 88 today. She is now reunited with her husband Robert "Lal" longtime Lightning Family member from Fleet 266 in Carlisle, Illinois who left us in 2016.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Matt, his wife Christine and sons Patrick and Tim.  Arrangements are being made and will will be posted soon.

In Pat’s honor, let’s all hold onto family a little tighter today.
Eight Bells... Alan Bates

Fleet 126 member Alan Bates passed away October 2, 2018 after a 5 year battle with prostate cancer at the age of 59. Alan was instrumental in planning the 2013 Lightning North Americans.

Even as his disease progressed, Alan never forgot his Lightning family. He took time to visit with us at the 2017 ACC's in Vermont when he had trouble walking. Rest In Peace. Alan's Legacy
Eight Bells... Mark Bryant

On Monday, September 24th the Lightning Class lost a legend. Mark Bryant of Buffalo, NY and Ft Meyers, FL passed away at the age of 61 after a brief battle with esophageal cancer. Mark was an early sailing prodigy, sailing at Silver Lake Yacht Club in update New York and the Buffalo Canoe Club. He won numerous Junior Championships and finished second in the Sears Cup. He went on to distinguish himself as a two-time Lightning North American Champion, as well as multiple other Lightning majors. Mark's Legacy

Chilean Lightning Lab
Presidential Lightning Lab in Chile!

Algarrobo, Chile: In early October (springtime in Chile) Kristine and I had the opportunity to travel to Chile to conduct a Lightning Lab.  We had never been to Chile, so this was a great opportunity to help the Chilean Fleet train for the upcoming Pan Am selection trials, visit friends and explore the country.  The Lab was held at Cofradía Nautica del Pacífico in Algarrobo which is about 100 kilometers West of Santiago on the Pacific Ocean. Read Todd's Full Report
