Little by little, the 2026 North American Championships are beginning!
These blog postings are designed to peak your interest in attending the 2026 NAs in Milwaukee and in Sheboygan. And it’s been scientifically proven that if we want to get a whole bunch of boats to sign up for these events (which we certainly do…) it’s best to lead off with something really compelling. So for this piece, I’m choosing: MEASUREMENT! Everyone knows it’s most people’s shadow favorite reason for towing their boats hundreds of miles.
Just to let you know, we started measuring boats last night at South Shore Yacht Club in Milwaukee. The experience was designed primarily as a practice session for the measurement volunteers but the boats that went through the process are officially either completed, or at least in the process and now looking for lead to add. If you’re like most of us, you have not wielded the Angle Of The Dangle jig for a few months. You have not located a business that will cheerfully calibrate the Class scale. You do not recall that the smallest legal gap between the rudder and the skeg is 3/8”. As of now, our VERY able, Very experienced team is more to speed. And you know what? It was fun to be together doing the work. There’s a regatta coming. Regattas, it turns out, are fun to be around whether you are sailing or volunteering.
Our average throughput time for a boat was not as low as our target for the events. We hope the owner/teams will be helpful in getting us down to our target of 15 minutes by making sure the 6 audio cassettes and the fishing outriggers are removed prior to getting in line for measurement.
We’re going to do a few more boats today. And we’ll improve our process. And you’ll show up in Wisconsin and we’ll be ready for you and this part of the event will be painless. We cannot wait!!
