Executive Committee Action

The Executive Committee is acting on behalf of the Governing Board per Lightning Class Constitution, Article XII, Section 1(b), to temporarily amend the Document Governing All Sanctioned Lightning Class Championships, Articles Which Apply Specifically to the North American Championship, Article XIII Racing Conditions in its entirety for the 2023 Lightning North American Championship. This amendment will apply from July 28, 2023 until August 12, 2023, at which time, the original language shall be in force.

 

Reason behind the action: This format will improve the quality of the sailing experience at the 2023 North American Championship.

 
Amendment Summary: 
All competitors entitled to enter the North American Championship shall sail in the Championship Division (1 Fleet) and there will not be any qualifying series. Nine races are scheduled over the 5 days.

It is not too late to register for either WJM's - Yachtscoring Event or NA's -Regatta Network Event! 
 
*Note Late Fee for Toms River NA's has been waived. 
The Annual Meeting of the International Lightning Class Association will be held virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, August 30, 2022 at 1200 Eastern Time. 

One item is up for vote/approval.  

Proxy Ballots will be emailed to Fleet Captains on record. If you are a Fleet Captain and have not received a proxy ballot please notify the Class Office as soon as possible.
 
As a reminder, all personal and Fleet Membership Dues must be current in order for votes to be counted.

The next Governing Board Meeting will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 1200 Eastern Time via a Virtual Meeting using the ZOOM Platform.  District Commodores, Vice Presidents and the Executive committee will all receive and invitation link via email.

At this time, one item has been presented to vote on: Proposed Amendment to the Document Governing all Sanctioned Lightning Class Events, a new article specifically applicable to the Masters Championships. Note this article will be posted soon and proxy ballots will be sent to Governing Board Members at least 30 days prior to the meeting.
