8 Bells....George Peet
It is with sadness that we share the passing of George M. Peet on Wednesday, June 19th.

George was part of the Boyne City Yacht Club, Fleet 512 of the Michigan District. He loved skiing and sailing as well as coaching and teaching both in the northern Michigan community. Apart from the activities themselves, George’s favorite past-time was meeting new people and trying to figure if he already somehow knew them or could possibly make some type of connection to them. He always talked to everyone and seemed to know someone everywhere he went!

A dozen Lightnings, racing and drifting on Lake Charlevoix June 22nd, served as backdrop for George’s celebration of life, and his spirit was with them as they negotiated roundings and crossings.  His passing was acknowledged with a moment of silence before Saturday’s evening meal.  A few reflected on the passing of friends and lives well-lived, as the sun set over the lake.

8 Bells.... Jack Burwell
It is with sadness that we share the passing of Jack Burwell, 79, on May 11, 2019.  Jack sailed Lightnings in the New England District from both Cohasset, MA and then from South Freeport, ME and Casco Bay. He radiated positivity and courage and it was hard to be in a bad mood when you were in his presence. He will be remembered as an inspiration to many.

Receptions to celebrate Jack's life will be held in both Florida and Maine this summer.

He had salt water in his veins and his hear beat on the ocean.... Read the full Obituary

Frigid Digit Might not be so Frigid:
Save the Date!  The Frigid Digit at Severn Sailing Association has moved from its traditional date of the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October to September 28-29. This is due to a scheduling conflict at SSA but could also mean that we get better weather, at least warmer, for the regatta.  Fleet 329 hopes to see you there. Please sign up on the Who's Coming List if you are planning to attend.
