2022 Harken Blockheads Youth World Championship
Fifteen teams from six different countries came to Sheboygan, WI where Fleet 187 lead by Jason Bemis put on an amazing event!Two races were sailed on Day 1 in windy and chilly conditions.  Day 2 was lost due to lack of wind.  Day 3 the fleet sailed 3 races in what startedas medium air, and ended with extreme conditions for both wind and waves.  On the final day the fleet completed three more races in medium air, fading to no breeze. Team Brazilconsisting of Nicolas Bernal, Mathias Reimer and Felipe Fonseca built and early lead in the breezy conditions and held on for a victory by winning a tiebreaker.

2022 Bolivarianos Valledupar Games
Passing 1 boat on the final run of the last race, Team Martinetti from ECU won a tie for Gold. Team Velez from ECU finished in Silver and Team Robles from CHI in Bronze.

The Bolivarian Games is a multidisciplinary sport event held every four years that is part of the Olympic cycle and that includes the countries that achieved their independence thanks to Simón Bolívar, such as Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela and Ecuador. The 2022 Games were held in Valledupar, Colombia and sailed on Lake Tomine in Colombia from June 24 to July 5. The Lightning Class was sailed in the Mixed Team format.

A "Mini" Lightning Lab from 4pm - 7pm led by Brian Hayes and Jody Lutz.
The schedule will be: 
  • 4:00p-5:15p-- On land boat talk
    • Q&A with tuning overview and crew work tips
  • 5:30p-7:00p- Practice in the River
    • Short course sailing
    • Practice starts
    • On water coaching
  • 7:00p- Short debrief and tips on local conditions

2023 Panam Games - Country Qualifying Event
2 Boats/Countries will qualify at the North American Championship. 
Teams must sail in the MIXED Configuration - the 3-person crew must be comprised of 1 Male and 2 Females hailing from the same country. To date ARG and Host Country CHI have qualified for the Santiago 2023 Panam Games which will be held October 25 – November 5, 2023. The Sailing Events will be held in Algarrobo at the Cofradia Nautica del Pacifico. This is approximately 105 km west of Santiago, Chile.

Lightnings are headed back to Cedar Point Yacht Club (home to Fleet 126) for the 2022 Women's, Junior's, and Master's North American Championship. The Club has hosted many national events; the last big one for the Lightning Class being the 2013 North American Championship.

We have 4 great days of racing and on-shore activities planned for you! 

Junior sailors cannot turn 21 by 12/31/2022 and Master Skippers must turn 55 years of age by 12/31/2022 and have a total combined age of 130 or more by 12/31/2022.

Skaneateles Country Club, Fleet 1 will be hosting a one day Lightning Regatta Sunday July 24, 2022 on beautiful Skaneateles Lake. To encourage participation awards will be include those for best finish by a Classic boat as well as that with a wood mast, in addition for overall awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Skippers meeting at 11:00am, 1st start appox noon. No start after 4:00pm.
